About This Project

“A Race to the Pearl: Black Voices from the Packinghouse” was a 13-panel exhibit that I designed for the Calvert Marine Museum that explored a collection of images and personal stories from the African American men and women that propelled the oyster industry during the 20th century. Oystering in the late 19th century, by today’s standards, was a nasty business.
